Imadegawa Dori runs east-west parallel to the Imperial Palace (Gosho) and Doshisha University in Kyoto. Imadegawa Dori begins at Kitahakubaicho in the west and continues to Ginkakuji In the east.

Kyoto attractions on or near Imadegawa Street include Kitano Tenmangu Shirine, the Nishijin Textile Center, Kyoto University and Chionji Temple with its flea market on the 15th of the month.
